Plenty of companies offer to improve your credit. If they charge you anything more than a nominal fee, it is a scam. These outfits typically disappear with your money, or they offer recommendations that are illegal and therefore do not work – such as advising you to create a new identity. Others simply take your money and fail to deliver anything at all.

Seek professional guidance from financial advisors or community and non-profit agencies that help people create repayment schedules and negotiate with creditors. These resources are generally free or charge only nominal fees. They will not promise miracles, but they will provide a realistic plan you can actually follow.
If you are behind on your bills, the only path forward is to get current, stay current and give it time. The only thing that actually improves your credit is responsible financial behavior, sustained over time.
