Treasury Bills

Short-term securities issued by the federal government to finance its operations. T‑Bills have maturity dates of 4, 6, 8, 13, 17, 26 and 52 weeks. They are Zero-Coupon securities, meaning they are purchased at a discount to the face value, with the face value returned at maturity. T‑Bills are considered the safest investment in the world because they are guaranteed by the “full faith and credit” of U.S. government, which has never defaulted on an interest payment or failed to return principal upon maturity.
